Has your boat been damaged?

Act like this when damage occurs.

Damage reporting - instructions

1. Prevent additional damage

If the damage is ongoing or the situation endangers the safety of the boat or environment, take the necessary measures to prevent additional damage.

2. Collect important information

For the damage report, we need the following information:

  • Location and time of the damage
  • Description of what happened
  • Possible photos of the damage
  • Contact details of parties and possible witnesses
  • Boat details and insurance number (if known)

3. Report the damage

You can report the damage by following these instructions

4. We will contact you

We will process the report as soon as possible and contact you if necessary to obtain additional information and arrange a possible damage inspection. If necessary, we will also advise you in the repair process and assessment.

Rescue costs and towing agreements

  • If your boat needs rescue, towing, or hull lifting, always contact the insurance provider before ordering the work so that costs can be approved in advance.
  • If it's an emergency situation (e.g., danger to people or the boat), first act to ensure safety and notify us as soon as possible.
  • Record the agreement and parties. Keep the contact details of the rescuer or tower and ask for written confirmation when possible.

Frequently asked questions in damage situations

1. What should I do first if damage occurs?

Always take care of safety first: ensure that people are not in danger and prevent additional damage if possible.

2. Who should I report the damage to?

Always report damage to Yacht-Pool. You can find our contact information here. If it's theft, vandalism, or a significant accident, also report it to the police.

3. Do I need to approve towing or lifting costs in advance?

Yes. Always contact the insurance provider before ordering rescue, towing, or lifting work so that costs can be approved. However, in emergency situations, safety comes first.

4. What documents do I need for the damage report?

You need the damage report form and possible attachments, such as photos, police report, harbor statement, or repair estimate.

5. Are rescue costs covered?

Yes, rescue, towing, and lifting costs can be covered by insurance if they have been approved in advance or were necessary to limit the damage.

6. How quickly will I receive compensation?

When we have received all necessary information and documents, we process the damage case without delay. The compensation payment time depends on the extent of the case and the required investigation.

7. What if I'm abroad when damage occurs?

Act the same way: take care of safety, document the damage, and contact Yacht-Pool. If necessary, we also approve rescue and repair work done abroad.

8. Do I have to pay the rescuer or tower myself?

Often the service is paid on-site and then compensation is sought from insurance. Always get a receipt and include it as an attachment to the damage report.
